Marketers Convene in Newport

More than 250 energy marketers and industry participants gathered in Newport, R.I., in September for the Southern New England Energy Conference, which brought together members of three New England state associations for two event-filled days.
Co-hosted by the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association (CEMA), the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association (MEMA), and the Oil Heat Institute of Rhode Island (OHIRI), the conference featured seminars, association meetings, a tradeshow, and an awards dinner. The keynote address was delivered by Eric Slifka, CEO of Global Partners LP.
During the Awards Dinner, CEMA honored three association members with Marketers of the Year awards: Julie Roman and Kevin Roman, of Roman Oil, and Kate Childs of Tuxis-Ohrs. The Association also honored Joyce Porto, President of Inland Fuel Terminals Inc., as Associate of the Year. Meanwhile, OHIRI honored Louise Giguere LeBlanc, of Giguere & Marchand Oil Service Inc., with a Hall of Fame award, and MEMA presented Leadership Awards to Scott D. MacFarlane, President of MacFarlane Energy, and Howard Peterson, Owner of Peterson Oil Service.
The crowd at the Awards Dinner also enjoyed lots of laughs courtesy of Boston comedian Paul D’Angelo, who performed after the meal.
