Intelligent Enhancements for Superior Performance

newTech.jpg

This year’s new technology is built on common sense

It is a question we ask every summer: what new technology will be available in the upcoming heating season for liquid fuel retailers and service providers. Some years, the news is big and flashy, like last year when UL-certified B100/R100 equipment was available in-market for the very first time. Most years, however, manufacturers are coming up with intelligent modifications to existing technology that make you sit back and say, “Why didn’t anyone think of that before?”

Changes like pre-heating hot water pipes to reduce energy use and make homeowners much happier. Or spin-on filter adapters to make tune-ups easier. Or tweaks to controls that make troubleshooting easier and reduce short cycling. Why didn’t anyone think of that before? The time just has to be right, and the time is now.

Technicians can now easily convert canister filters to a convenient spin-on style during a fall tune-up. This time-saver will reap benefits over and over again, as all future tune ups will simply require the spin-on filter to be replaced.

With this installation, there is no need to disassemble or re-plumb the system to change the filter. The adapter features “ears” that lock onto the underside of the filter top to prevent movement. The bolt clamps it all together and holds it securely in place.

“Beckett’s solution saves space under tanks, offering a UL-approved bio-compatible filter to meet today’s decarbonization need, eliminates problems related to old leaky canisters, and saves time in the basement,” says Jeff Naymik, Product Manager.

The filter adapter kits include the adapter, all new hardware and seals that are rated for traditional heating fuels and renewable fuels up to B100 and R100. Kits are available to fit most industry standard canister filters.

R.W. Beckett offers the only spin-on solution for limited space under tanks. At 5.25”, the adapter and F99-10B filter are specifically designed to be the same size as the canister they are replacing. It is the perfect size for the tight space under the tank. No other spin-on fits in this tight space. For areas where space is not limited, Beckett offers spin-on filters to suit any need. Carlin released new controls and relays for the season. The OFC-5000 is Hydrolevel’s new oil-fired furnace control. In addition to its adoption on some prominent furnaces, the OFC-5000 will be available through wholesale distribution as a universal replacement. Designed for 2- or 3-speed PCS motors, the control features industry standard wiring terminals and plug connections, and multiple field-adjustable settings, including Blower Delay ON, Blower Delay OFF, and Counter Flow settings.

The HydroZone is Hydrolevel’s single zone switching relay. It boasts a Test Button, an LED Zone Fault indicator, and a built-in 2-second delay to prevent short cycling. Service technicians can press the Test Button to simulate a call for heat or double tap the button for a hands-free, two-minute, simulated call for heat. To simplify troubleshooting, the “ZONE” LED will blink if the zone call has not been satisfied after 3 hours. The HydroZone features industry standard wiring terminals with a large wiring compartment, extra L2 terminal and two SPDT relays. Thanks to an included resistor, a common terminal and the 10VA transformer, the HydroZone can also be used to power most smart thermostats or an AcuTemp Indirect Water Heater Control. Visit hydrolevel.com for more information on both products.
