Cetane Associates Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary

On April 15, Cetane Associates LLC announced it was celebrating 15 years of providing financial advisory services to business owners in the retail energy distribution industry. Since its founding in 2006, the company has helped hundreds of retail energy business owners reach their goals through mergers, acquisitions and other transitions.

“When I started the company it was a leap of faith,” says company founder and managing director Steven Abbate. “I always tried to live by a lesson I was taught by one of my favorite authors, Zig Ziglar, who said that in order to get what you want out of life, you have to help other people get what they want. We have helped hundreds of owners achieve their transition goals. It’s more than getting the most money for an owner, it’s about getting the best transaction in every aspect, for both the buyer and the seller. That’s what makes a truly successful transaction.”

The 15th anniversary announcement follows several other recent initiatives and developments at Cetane. To help meet the needs of a growing client base, the company now includes a team of specialists with experience in acquisitions, valuations, financial analysis, legal review, business development, marketing and administration. Additionally, Cetane has expanded from the Northeast region to provide its services nationwide, and the company has enhanced its digital communications through social media as well as a new video-centric website launched in 2020.

Longtime team member Doug Woosnam says, “I joined Steve nine years ago and Cetane became a team of two. The stars aligned when I had the opportunity to join Steve with the goal of providing a level of service to owners that had not been available to me when I sold my own family business. Since that time, the Cetane team has become the Gold Standard in our market, and I am so thankful to be onboard.”

Reflecting on the company today, Cetane’s Josh Wolf comments, “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished to date.
