NORA Seeks Proposals for RD&D Projects

The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) is seeking proposals for research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects in eight different categories.

The Alliance recently published a Program Opportunity Notice (PON) that invites industry participants to propose RD&D projects in the areas of fuel use/tracking, combustion monitoring, fuel quality assessment, B-100 burner, remote analysis technologies, atomization technology, tankless coil boilers with high annual efficiency, and field experience with high biodiesel blend levels. Other new ideas are also welcome, according to the NORA PON.

The NORA Board of Directors has authorized $2 million for RD&D projects in its 2014 and 2015 budgets. For this round of projects, NORA plans to award multiple cost-shared contracts up to a total of $350,000 for each award. There is no minimum project funding amount per project award, and NORA might adjust the funding allocation depending on the quantity and quality of proposals received. All projects will be managed by NORA’s Liquid Fuels Research Center (LFRC). NORA RD&D grants have ranged from $20,000 to $350,000 in past years.

Proposals are due Dec. 12, 2015 by 5 p.m. There is a conference call scheduled for November 18 at 2 p.m. to discuss the PON and answer questions from proposers. (Conference call details are in the PON notice.) NORA President John Huber can be reached at 703-340-1660 or jhuber@noraweb.org. NORA RD&D Director Richard Sweetser can be reached at 703-707-0293 or rsweetser@noraweb.org. For more information, visit www.noraweb.org.
