Marketers Convene in Newport
Hundreds of energy marketers gathered in Newport, R.I. in September for the Southern New England Energy Conference, which was co-hosted by the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association (CEMA), the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association (MEMA) and the Oil Heat Institute of Rhode Island (OHIRI). The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) was their Conference Partner.
The conference packed dozens of seminars, social events and association meetings into two fast-paced days at the Newport Marriott Hotel. The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA), the New England Fuel Institute (NEFI) and each of the host associations took advantage of the gathering to hold Board of Director meetings.
There were more than 15 seminars on topics including Bioheat® fuel, social media, hedging, leadership, jobber law, natural gas pipelines, propane sales and more. More than 25 companies greeted marketers in a mini-tradeshow featuring tabletop exhibits.
Many marketers gathered for an Awards Night Dinner, where diners heard a presentation by the American Petroleum Institute’s Drew Cobbs and the host associations bestowed several industry awards.
Other events during the conference included an after-hours reception in the hotel atrium hosted by REG Energy Services; a tour of the Newport Biodiesel plant; and sightseeing cruise in Newport Harbor.
Gold sponsors for the conference were Energi Insurance Services, Global Companies and Inland Fuel Terminals. Silver sponsors were CITGO, ExxonMobil, Gray, Gray & Gray, Gulf Oil, HOP Energy, Newport Biodiesel, Petro Home Services and Ultratech Additives.
