Eastern Energy Expo records successful show for its 10th anniversary
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Eastern Energy Expo welcomed more than 3,800 attendees, 215 exhibiting companies, and 36 sponsors to Mohegan Sun last week, making this year’s event one of the most successful in the show’s history.
Eastern Energy Expo brings together wholesale and retail heating fuel marketers, motor fuel distributors, diesel and biodiesel distributors, propane marketers and service professionals to see the latest and best in products and services for the petroleum marketing and HVAC industry.
More than 50 business and technical education sessions—many standing room only — were presented throughout the event, along with a packed Hospitality Night, a sold-out Golf Tournament, and an inspiring OESP Awards Banquet. OESP also offered a Student Skills Competition on the trade show floor with more than 200 students participating from six schools over the two-day program.
Show Highlights
Highlights of the event included the annual OESP Dave Nelsen Scholarship Golf Outing and Care to Ride: Ride for Ralph on Monday, May 18. NORA’s board meeting, business sessions, and technical education programs - many that offered attendees NORA continuing education units. As usual, Monday’s Hospitality Night and OESP Reception offered lavish food and entertainment at the sponsors’ suites, and the OESP Awards Banquet was a great success.
This year, special guest Race Car Driver Peter Bennett was greeting attendees in the outdoor boiler area. The two-day trade show showcased the latest products, technologies, and services for the energy and home comfort industry, including outdoor live-fire demonstrations and student skills competitions.
Wednesday’s Keynote program featured two presentations. The first was a panel discussion examining the strengths, limitations, and future outlook of both liquid heating fuels and heat pump technologies, highlighting where each solution performs best and the challenges facing the industry (read more here). The second featured veteran oil market analyst Tom Kloza, who shared his insights on current energy markets.
One of the most talked-about programs was NORA’s “100% Renewable Fuels Study. How Renewable Diesel/Biodiesel Blends Performed These Past Two Winters,” which took a deep dive into NORA’s 2-year long field study and addressed the overriding question: Is the liquid heating industry capable of moving to 100% renewable liquid heating fuels today? The panel on “Recruiting and Retaining Your Technician Army” was another hit, as the experts provided their insight on the importance of investing in training, career development, and corporate culture and engagement to attract and retain employees.
Other featured Business Track sessions included “Holistic Fuel Quality Management in the ERA of ULSD, Biodiesel, Renewable Biodiesel & Ethanol” from Advanced Fuel Solutions; “Navigating Risks & Opportunities in Energy Markets” from Powerhouse; “The New Fuel Reality: RFS 2026–2027 Impact on Northeast Distillates” from Nazzaro Group and Clean Fuels Alliance America; and a panel discussion: “Run Your Business Like You are Selling It Tomorrow.
