HEAT Show Gears Up

heat.jpg

As the HEAT Show approaches, NEFI and its partners have been gearing up for the thousands of attendees expected to arrive at the Boston Harbor Hotel from August 20-22. In the past few weeks, the HEAT Show has opened attendee registration, announced honorees for its awards dinner, and released the schedule of technical and management track training sessions.

Registration Opens with Early Bird Discount

Registration for HEAT Show attendees opened up on May 28, with early bird discounts available through June 30, 2025. The registration form provides attendees the opportunity to also purchase tickets for additional show events, such as the Legends Award Banquet and the Red Sox game.

Attendance at the trade show is free. There are ticket options available for one- or two-day attendance at either the management or technician sessions, the Friday Industry Summit, and more.

Management and Technical Sessions Announced

The HEAT Show educational sessions, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, were created to meet the specific needs of our industry’s business executives, office managers, service managers, delivery drivers, and service technicians.

The Management Track includes sessions such as: “Data-Driven Decisions: What Did the Winter of 2025 Teach Us in Preparation for Winter 2026?” “Taming the Administrative State: the Trump Administration’s Battle to Rein in Agency Overreach,” “Unveiling the Future of Human and Artificial Intelligence,” “Fulfilling the Strategic Planning Imperative,” and many others.

The Technicians Track includes: “Making Combustion Great Again,” “Safe House Training and Certification,” “Optimizing Liquid Fuels Service: Tools, Tips and Technologies for Today’s Technicians,” “Troubleshooting – Art or Science?” and more.

Summit Sessions

For the first time, the HEAT Show is organizing its education content and keynote presentations around daily themes that address our industry’s most pressing challenges and greatest opportunities. Wednesday’s daily theme and Summit Spotlight presentation will be on “Electrification & Consumer Choice;” Thursday’s will be “Future-Proofing Your Business;” and Friday will close the show with the 2025 Annual Industry Summit with the theme of “One Industry, United.”

Jack Sullivan Award for Fuel Industry Excellence

The HEAT Show 2025 will introduce a new award named in memory of Jack Sullivan, NEFI’s transformative Executive Vice President and CEO from 1995 to 2007. This award will be bestowed during the annual Legends Award Dinner.

Charlie Uglietto, Owner of Cubby Oil & Energy, has been announced as the inaugural recipient of the Jack Sullivan Award for Fuel Industry Excellence.

The Jack Sullivan Award for Fuel Industry Excellence will impart special recognition to a member who demonstrates exceptional advocacy and dedication to advancing the fuel industry. Jack was renowned for his passionate advocacy of our mostly multigenerational family businesses, his compelling testimony before state and federal legislatures, and his instrumental role in establishing the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) in 2000.

The Jack Sullivan Award stands distinct from our Legends Award program as an annual recognition presented each year to celebrate current excellence and achievement in the fuel industry. Recipients must be current NEFI members in good standing and are carefully selected by the NEFI Executive Committee based on their significant contributions to industry advancement. Importantly, receiving this honor does not preclude recipients from future Legends nominations, ensuring deserving individuals can be recognized at multiple stages of their careers. This new award ensures Jack Sullivan’s legacy of service, leadership, and advocacy continues to inspire the next generation of fuel industry champions.

Five Legends Awards Recipients Announced

This year’s honorees were nominated by industry members. The 2025 NEFI Legends Award recognizes individuals in the Fuel Retailers; Fuel Producer/Wholesalers/Supplier; Equipment Producer/Wholesalers/Supplier; and Associate categories who have made a lasting contribution to the success of our industry through their leadership, commitment and dedication. Due to the caliber of nominations, the HEAT Show has also chosen to honor a fifth individual who did not fit squarely into any one category but whose contributions to the industry deserve recognition.

The Legends honorees for 2025 are: Peter Aziz, President and CEO of Valiant Energy Solutions; Kevin Beckett, President and CEO of R.W. Beckett Corporation; Dr. Thomas A. Butcher, Director of NORA Laboratory; Rich Goldberg, President, Warm Thoughts Communications; and Eric Slifka, President and CEO of Global Companies, LLC.

The Legends Awards dinner will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 6:00 p.m.
